Viewing and resending a receipt

Viewing and resending a receipt

How to see exactly what a donor received and forward the receipt to a different email address.

The View Receipt feature shows you exactly what a donor received for their gift — the branded thank you email and the receipt PDF attached to it. From the same view, you can resend the receipt to a different email address.

Common reasons to use it:

  • The donor says they didn't get their receipt (often a delivery issue or spam folder)
  • The donor lost it and needs it again, often for tax filing
  • The donor asks you to forward it to a spouse, accountant, or financial advisor

Viewing a receipt

  1. Open the Insights and Activity dashboard from the left navigation.
  2. In the activity table, click the donation you want to look at. The donation details panel opens on the right.
  3. In the Donation Details section of the panel, click View Receipt.

The View Receipt screen takes over the full window, showing:

  • The thank you email — the subject line, your branded header, the thank you copy, the signature, and your footer. Exactly what the donor received in their inbox.
  • The receipt PDF — attached at the bottom of the email. The PDF includes your organization details, tax ID, donation amount and date, payment method, donor info, dedication info (if applicable), and the standard "no goods or services were received in return for this gift" line.

Click the PDF tile to open or download the file directly.

Resending a receipt

From the View Receipt screen:

  1. Click Send Receipt in the top-right corner.
  2. A small panel opens with a single email field and the prompt "Add the donor's email below to send this receipt."
  3. Enter the email address you want to send the receipt to.
  4. Click Send Receipt in the panel.

This forwards the same thank you email with the same PDF receipt attached. It does not modify the donor's record, generate a new receipt, or change anything on the original donation. The Send Receipt action is purely a resend of the existing receipt to a new recipient.

A privacy note: the receipt PDF shows the donor's full name and address. If you're forwarding to a third party such as an accountant or financial advisor, confirm the donor wants their information shared with that recipient.

Returning to the dashboard

Click the X in the top-right corner to close the View Receipt screen. You'll return to the donation details panel on the activity dashboard.
