Duplicating a campaign

Duplicating a campaign

Duplicate an existing campaign from the campaigns list. One click, auto-named, lands as a draft.

By the end of this guide, you'll have duplicated an existing campaign from the campaigns list. Most operators duplicating a campaign do so to spin up a variation — different copy for a new appeal, a different audience, an updated photo — without rebuilding everything from scratch.

Before you begin

You'll need an Admin role.

Steps

  1. Open the Campaigns section in the left navigation.
  2. Find the campaign you want to duplicate in the list.
  3. Click the overflow menu (the ... button) for that campaign.
  4. Click Duplicate.

The new campaign appears at the top of the campaigns list immediately. A toast notification confirms the duplication. There's no confirmation step — duplication happens on click.

What the duplicate inherits

Every setting on the original carries over: the header, photo, donation amounts, payment methods, dedications, designations, exit popup, receipt page, emails. The duplicate is independent of the original — changes to one don't affect the other.

The duplicate also inherits the original's campaign type. A page duplicates to a page; a popup duplicates to a popup. To switch surfaces, create a new campaign from scratch instead.

What's different on the duplicate

  • Name. [Original Name] Copy. Rename from the overflow menu, or anytime later.
  • URL slug. The original's slug with -1 appended, since slugs must be unique across campaigns. Edit in the donation form's Form Settings.
  • Status. Draft. The duplicate isn't live until you publish it.

Duplicate from overflow vs. duplicate from New Campaign

Two paths produce the same outcome:

  • Overflow Duplicate (this guide) — one click, auto-named, lands as a draft. Quickest when you're going to rename the campaign later anyway.
  • New Campaign with Duplicate option (see Creating a campaign) — a longer flow but lets you name the duplicate at creation time, so it doesn't pass through the campaigns list with a placeholder name.

Pick whichever fits the moment. Both end up at the same place.

What to do next

Open the donation form editor and make the changes specific to this duplicate — typically new copy, a different photo, updated suggestion text. Before publishing, run an end-to-end test transaction in preview mode (see Test transactions).
