Insights and Activity dashboard

Insights and Activity dashboard

Track raised totals, conversion, donor activity, and more. Customizable columns, multi-period comparisons, and CSV export.

The Insights and Activity dashboard is where you measure how your fundraising is performing. The top of the page shows insights — metrics that gauge how your organization is doing across a period of your choosing, compared to a reference period. Below the insights, an activity table lists every donation attempt in the period in detail.

Insights and activity in one place lets you spot a trend at a glance and then drill into the specific donations behind it. The set of insights will grow over time as we add new ways to measure and understand fundraising performance.

Opening the dashboard

In the GiveForms admin, click Activity in the left navigation. The dashboard loads with a 30-day view by default.

The date range

The dashboard always shows two periods side by side: a primary period and a comparison period. The current selections are shown at the top of the page.

Primary period

Click the primary date selector to choose from:

  • Today
  • Last 7 Days
  • Last 30 Days (default)
  • Last 3 Months
  • Last 12 Months
  • Month to Date — the 1st of the current month through today
  • Quarter to Date — the start of the current quarter through today
  • Year to Date — January 1st through today
  • All Time
  • Custom — pick start and end dates from the dual calendar

Comparison period

The comparison shows how the primary period stacks up against a reference. The default is Previous Period — the same length of time immediately before your primary period. "Last 30 Days" compares against the 30 days before that.

Switch to Previous Year for a year-over-year view. Useful for accounting for seasonality and for annual planning.

You can also pick a fully custom comparison range from the calendar.

Top-line insights

Six insight cards run across the top of the dashboard. Each shows the current value, the percentage change from the comparison period, and a small inline trend chart of the primary period day-by-day. All six update instantly when you change the date range or comparison.

  • Total Raised — total donation revenue for the period, plus the count of donations
  • Conversion Rate — percent of visits that became donations
  • Abandonment Rate — percent of donation attempts that didn't complete
  • Avg Donation Size — the average donation amount, plus the median
  • Recurring Donor Churn — percent of recurring donors who canceled their plans in the period
  • One Time vs Recurring — the split between one-time and recurring revenue, with a total donation count

For a deeper look at each insight — what it measures, how to interpret it, and how to improve it — see Understanding your insights. More insights will be added over time as we build out additional ways to measure fundraising performance.

The activity table

Below the insights, the activity table lists donation activity for the selected period — paid donations, refunds, and abandoned attempts together. The default columns are:

  • Date
  • Name (donor)
  • Email (donor)
  • Campaign
  • Amount
  • Payment (method, e.g., Visa, Mastercard, Google Pay)
  • Frequency (One time, Monthly, Yearly)
  • Plan Status (Active, Paused, Canceled — for recurring)
  • Payment Status (Paid, Refunded, Abandoned)

Click any row to open the donation details panel on the right. It shows everything captured about the donation:

  • Donation Details — date and time, campaign (linked), donor name, email, address, designation, recurring plan info (for recurring donations), device info
  • Payment Details — amount, currency, payment method, Stripe and GiveForms fees, fee coverage status, Stripe ID (linked), GiveForms ID, net amount
  • Dedication — appears only on dedicated gifts; shows type (In Memory of / In Honor of), recipient name and address, notification method, card image, and personal message
  • UTM Codes — appears only when UTM parameters were captured at the time of donation

From the panel, click View Receipt to see exactly what the donor received and optionally forward it to a different email address — see Viewing and resending a receipt. Or click Refund Donation to start a refund.

Sorting and pagination

Right-click any column header to access sorting options (Sort Ascending, Sort Descending) along with pin and autosize options. The table shows 20 results per page by default; use Back / Next at the bottom to navigate, or change the page size with the dropdown.

Customizing the table

The activity table currently has 49 columns available, with more added as the product evolves. The default layout shows the columns most teams use; you can customize what's visible to fit your workflow.

Click the gear icon at the top-right of the table to open the column customization panel.

  • Default Column Layout dropdown — switch between saved layouts
  • Search Columns — filter the list of columns by name
  • All Columns toggle — turn every column on or off at once
  • Individual column checkboxes — turn specific columns on or off
  • Reset — restore the default layout
  • Save New Layout — save your current column selection as a reusable named layout

Saved layouts are per-user, not per-organization — your layouts won't show up for your teammates, and theirs won't show up for you. Create separate layouts for different workflows — for example, one for donor outreach (Name, Email, Campaign, Amount, Date) and one for finance reconciliation (Date, Amount, Stripe Fees, GiveForms Fees, Net Amount, Stripe Id).

Reordering, resizing, and pinning columns

Drag a column header sideways to move it left or right. Drag the right edge of a column header to resize it.

To pin a column so it stays visible as you scroll horizontally, right-click the column header and choose Pin Column. The same menu also offers Autosize This Column and Autosize All Columns, which size columns to fit their content.

Filtering

Every column has its own filter. The filter row below the column headers lets you filter without leaving the main view. Click a filter cell to open it.

Filter types adapt to the data in the column:

  • Text columns (Name, Email, Campaign) — type to filter; matches anywhere in the value
  • Checkbox lists (Payment Status, Frequency, Plan Status) — pick one or more values from a checklist
  • Number columns (Amount, Installments) — filter by equals, greater than, or less than

Multiple filters compound — all conditions must match for a row to appear. The combined filter is reflected in the rows shown and in any export.

Exporting

Click the Export button at the bottom-right of the table to download a CSV of your activity.

The export reflects whatever filters are currently applied — only the rows you see in the table get exported. The CSV itself includes all 49 columns from the dataset, regardless of which columns are currently visible in your layout. That means you can build a focused view in the UI without losing data in the export.

Categories of data included in every export:

  • Core donation info — Date, Name, Email, Campaign, Final Amount, Original Amount, Currency, Status
  • Payment details — Payment, Last 4 Card Info, Processor, Stripe Fees, GiveForms Fees, Net Amount, Fee Covered, Stripe Id, GiveForms Id
  • Recurring info — Frequency, Recurring Plan, Installments, Installments Total, Started, Next Donation
  • Donor address — Address, City, State, Zip, Country
  • Session context — IP Address, Device, OS, Browser
  • Designation
  • Dedication — 11 columns covering type, recipient name and address, notification preferences, and personal message
  • Attribution — UTM Source, Medium, Campaign, Content
  • Comment — the donor's personal note, if provided

The CSV includes donor names, email addresses, donor addresses, payment metadata, and IP addresses. Handle the file with the same care you'd handle any donor data — keep it off shared drives that don't need it, and follow your organization's data retention practices.
