Drafts and publishing
Publish your donation page, understand the three publish states, and learn how to take a page down.
A donation page isn't visible to donors until it's published. Once published, you can continue editing without affecting the live version — changes are saved as drafts on top of the live page until you choose to publish them. About 1 minute.
Publish a donation page
In the editor, click the Publish button in the top bar. Your donation page is immediately accessible to donors at its URL.
Before publishing, confirm:
- You've run a test transaction in preview mode. See Test transactions.
- Your donor portal is published. Recurring donors need it to manage their plans.
- You've connected at least Stripe. See Connecting Stripe.
The three states of a donation page
The Status indicator at the top of the editor always tells you which state your page is in:
- Draft — the page has never been published. A DRAFT tag appears next to the campaign name in your campaigns list. The page isn't accessible to donors.
- Live — the page is published and accessible to donors. A LIVE tag appears next to the campaign name.
- Live with unpublished changes — the page is live and donors are seeing the published version, but you've made edits since the last publish. Those edits are saved as a draft layer on top of the live version. They don't go live until you click Publish again.
Save Draft vs. Publish
Two separate actions in the top bar, often confused:
- Save Draft persists your changes without making them visible to donors. Useful for work-in-progress edits or while a colleague reviews. On a draft page, this saves your work; on a live page, this saves changes that aren't yet published.
- Publish takes the current draft and makes it the live version. Donors see your changes immediately.
Taking a donation page down
A donation page stays Live until it's archived. There isn't currently an unpublish option — if you need to take a campaign down, archive it from your campaigns list. Archiving removes the page from public access; existing recurring donations associated with the campaign continue to process.
