Donation amounts and frequencies
Configure the popup's logo and headline, giving frequencies, preset amounts, and minimum gift. Presets are the biggest conversion lever on the form.
The Donation Info panel configures the first step of the popup: the logo and headline donors see, the frequencies they can give at, the preset amounts for each frequency, and the minimum gift. Click the Donation Info tab in the left sidebar of the editor to open it.
Logo, headline, and mobile header photo
The top of the panel holds the popup's header elements:
- Logo: your nonprofit's logo, displayed in a circular badge at the top of the popup (160 by 160 pixels). Use a square mark that survives circular cropping.
- Headline: the main message at the top of the form. Lead with the cause or with reassurance; tight copy converts better than long copy, and the donor came to give, not to read.
- Mobile Header Photo: a photo shown above the form on mobile only (1120 by 500 pixels). Check Use same cover photo from Appeal to reuse the appeal's cover photo instead of uploading a separate image.
Frequencies
Three toggles control which giving cadences appear as tabs on the form:
- One Time Donations: a single gift, processed once.
- Monthly Donations: a recurring monthly subscription. Monthly donors are the highest-value donors most nonprofits have: recurring revenue is more predictable, lifetime value is significantly higher, and churn is lower than one-time donors who happen to give again.
- Yearly Donations: a recurring annual subscription. We recommend leaving it off. The 12-month gap between gifts leaves a lot of room for life changes, card expirations, and unsubscribes, so yearly recurring churns at a much higher rate than monthly.
Preset amounts
Each enabled frequency has its own tab in the panel with its own presets. Presets give donors a quick path to a gift without typing, and they anchor behavior more than almost any other setting on the form: too low leaves money on the table, too high scares away donors who came ready to give. The DEFAULT tag marks the amount that's pre-selected when the form opens, and a DESCRIPTION can be attached to an amount to explain its impact.
Edit an amount by clicking into its row, and add more with Add Amount. The last row is a labeled open-amount option, "My Best Gift" by default: donors who pick it give an amount of their own choosing. Keep it; donors ready to give more than your highest preset will otherwise anchor down to it. Donors can also type any amount directly into the field below the presets, which doubles as the currency selector.
Minimum donation amount
The minimum prevents donations small enough to lose money on fees. A $1 card donation nets negative after the processor's flat fee, so keep the floor above the point where a gift costs you money.
Choosing presets that convert
- Pick a default that matches your typical donor. The default is what most donors will give. If your average gift is $50, defaulting to $25 leaves money on the table; defaulting to $250 scares away anyone planning to give less.
- Include a range, not a cluster. Spread presets across what your donor base actually gives, say $25 to $1,000, rather than clustering six options under $100.
- Use descriptions to make amounts concrete. "$25 covers a week of meals for a family" converts better than $25 by itself.
- Set a smaller default for Monthly. A reasonable rule: the monthly default is roughly a quarter to half of the one-time default.
