Dedications

Dedications

Let donors give in memory or honor of someone, renew the gift monthly or yearly, and email a personalized card.

Dedications let donors give in memory or in honor of someone, optionally turn the gift into a recurring tribute, and email a personalized card to a recipient. Common for memorial gifts, tributes, and holiday and birthday giving.

Enable dedications

Click the Form Features tab in the left sidebar and toggle Dedications on, or click Edit to open the configuration panel. A Donate in Memory/Honor link appears on the first step of the popup, and the editor gains Dedications and Email Cards preview tabs so you can see both screens as you configure them.

The donor experience

  1. The donor clicks Donate in Memory/Honor on the amount step, which opens the Dedicate this Donation screen.
  2. They choose the dedication type and enter the honoree's first and last name.
  3. If Renew Gift is enabled, they can renew the gift in memory of their loved one, monthly or yearly.
  4. If Email a Card is enabled, they can check Email a Card and say who the card is from, then enter the recipient's name and email address, write an optional message, pick an email design from the images you've uploaded, and check Hide Donation Amount if they'd rather keep the gift amount out of the email.

Renew Gift

Renew Gift lets donors turn the dedication into a recurring gift dedicated to their loved one. The Renew Monthly and Renew Yearly checkboxes control which cadences you offer donors. Yearly renewal suits anniversaries and birthday tributes; monthly suits ongoing memorials.

Email a Card

Email a Card sends the recipient an email with the card design the donor picked, the dedication, and the donor's personal message (subject line: "A Generous Gift was Given in Your Honor"). Under Email Images, upload up to 6 images donors can choose from to personalize their dedication emails, at 1280 by 1800 pixels. Drag to reorder; the delete icon removes an image.

Curate the library. A small set of well-chosen, on-brand images outperforms a large set of mismatched ones: a neutral branded card, a couple of seasonal options, and cause-specific imagery covers most organizations.

Before you launch

Send a test dedication to yourself before launching to see exactly what the recipient receives. The personal message and card image matter more in the live email than they do in the editor preview.
