Display Name and Website

Display name and Website fields

The Display Name appears at the top of the portal and is also used for the {{org_name}} variable. This defaults to your organization name.

The Website will be pre-filled with the URL from your organization settings but can point to any web address.

Logo and Welcome Message

Logo and Welcome Message fields

If a Logo has been saved in the Organization settings, it will automatically be used in your portal, but it can be customized for the Donor Portal here.

The Welcome Message appears in the right callout box on desktop, and at the top of the page on mobile. You can use one of the Available Variables to include donor info and add a personal touch. For example, “Edward, Acme Academy is grateful for your support! We couldn't do it without you.” It’s best to keep this note brief.

Using Available Variables

Variables can be used to personalize the Welcome Message by pulling in information about the donor or organization.

To add a variable, click one of the Available Variables below the Welcome Message field. This will copy the variable shortcode to your clipboard.

Available Variables

Then, place your cursor in the field where you want to insert the variable and paste. (You can use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+V on Windows, or CMD+V on Mac to quickly paste the variable shortcode.)

Welcome Message with variable

There are several variables available:

Info: {{Variable}}

  • Donor’s first name: {{donor_firstname}}
  • Donor’s last name: {{donor_lastname}}
  • Value entered in Display Name field: {{org_name}}

You can also manually copy the variables and paste them into the applicable fields.

Donate Button

A large, prominent Donate Button offers another chance for donors to make a new contribution. This is on by default; uncheck the box to disable it.

The Donate Button Color will automatically use the Primary color from the Organization settings but can be modified here. When selecting a color make sure it is dark enough so that the white button text can be easily read.

Select one of your campaigns for the Donate Button Campaign to link to. This is required if you have the donate button enabled.

The Donate Button Text is highlighted as a Danger Zone item because any changes should be made very carefully. The default text has been shown to work well; if you’re going to change it, make sure it clearly says that this is for a donation.
